Different Ways to eat Papaya Seeds and Its Healthy Benefits



Papaya is also known as the angel of fruits. Papaya is a nutritional fruit. Many people are unaware of the benefits of papaya seeds. Usually, the black jelly type seeds inside papaya are thrown away. But you may now stop doing after reading this article.

The tiny seeds are very edible and have a strong flavor, like a cross between mustard and black peppercorns. Indeed, they can be used as a substitute for black pepper.

How to Eat Papaya Seeds

There are different ways of eating papaya seeds. Some of the ways include:

  • Raw: The simplest option is to scoop out the seeds directly from the cut fruit and eat them along with the fruit.
  • Pounded: You can also collect all the seeds from a papaya and crush them using a mortar and pestle. The crushed seeds can be stored in a small jar in the refrigerator for about a week. You can also store them in the freezer so they last longer, and thaw them out before using them in salads, smoothies or soups.
  • Dried and ground into powder: Another option is to dry the seeds in the sun or using a food dehydrator. When dried, grind them into a powder form using a food processor. The powdered papaya seeds can be added to salads, smoothies, and soups. You can also use powdered papaya seeds to season steak, chicken or pork before you cook the meat.

Papaya Seeds damage Parasites in the Intestine: - The seeds of papaya contain an alkaloid called carpaine that kills intestinal worms and amoeba parasites. The fruit also helps you to metabolize proteins and makes the gastrointestinal tract an extremely hostile place for parasites to live and develop. Studies have shown that children in Nigeria have got rid of parasites in their gut 75% of the times by consuming papaya seed juice for 7 days.

Papaya Seeds kills Bacteria and Heals Viral Infections: - A small amount of papaya seeds has been found to kill harmful bacteria like E. coli, Staphylococcus, and Salmonella. They also help you to fight against viral infections and cure typhoid, dengue, and numerous other diseases. The seeds have been extensively used in Costa Rica to fight against dengue fever.

Papaya Seeds keeps The Kidneys Healthy: - Researchers have found that papaya seeds can be used to improve kidney health and avoiding renal failure. The same works wonders for kidney poisoning-related diseases.

Papaya Seeds rebuild Liver Cirrhosis: - Papaya seeds contain important nutrients that help you to improve cirrhosis of the liver. Grind or crush 5–6 papaya seeds and have them with food or juice, especially lime juice. This should be done for 30 days. Moreover, eating small amounts of papaya seeds regularly helps you in detoxing the liver and keeps liver diseases at bay.

Papaya Seeds improve the digestive system: - Both unripe papaya and papaya seeds are high in the enzyme papain. Papain is a beneficial aid to protein digestion. They are not good for pregnant women or those who are trying to conceive.

Papaya Seeds helps you to remove Dead skin: - Papaya seeds help you to remove the dead skin from the face and also remove dirt from inside. Being rich in Vitamin A it helps to pull out the dead skin, generate the new cells and replace the damaged cell. Blend some papaya seeds in the grinder and add some drops of lemon to the paste. The texture should be thick which stays well on the skin. Apply the paste for 10-15 minutes and wash off with cold water.
