What Are the Different Types of Abortion and what are side effects of abortion ?

Abortion is the end of a pregnancy by expulsion of an embryo before it can survive outside the uterus. An abortion which occurs without intervention is known as miscarriage abortion. The steps of ending the abortion are known as induced abortion, or less frequently is known as “induced miscarriage”. If the fetus has potential to survive outside the womb than it is known as “late term abortion”. 

Abortion is one of the safest procedures in medicine; it is safer than carrying a pregnancy to term.

Symptoms of abortion are:-

~Bleeding which progresses from light to heavy

~Severe cramps 

~Abdominal pain 



~Back pain

There are 7 types of abortion

~ Early non-surgical abortion 

~ Vacuum aspiration

~ Dilation and Evacuation (D&E)

~ Labor induction (performed in 13 to 22 weeks of pregnancy)

~ Dilation and Extraction (D&X)  

~ Labor induction (performed in 22 to 38 weeks of pregnancy) 

~ Hysterotomy

Side effects of abortion

The side effects of abortion are nausea, weakness, fever, vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, dizziness. 

There are many complication that require immediate medical attention like heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever uo to 100.4 degree’s or higher for more than 4 hours. 

Gynecological side effects are spotting, cramps, hypermenorrhea, menstrual disorder, dysmenorrhea.
