Liver cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the liver. Some of the cancer develop outside the liver and spread to the area. Only cancer that starts in the liver are described as liver cancer.
The causes of liver cancer are:-
~ Chronic infection
~ Certain inherited liver disease
~ Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
~ Exposure to aflatoxins
~ Excessive alcohol consumption
The symptoms of liver cancer are:-
~ Abdominal pain
~ Unexplained weight loss
~ An enlarged liver
~ Back pain
Treatment of liver cancer
In the liver transplant, a patient's bad liver is replaced with a healthy liver. This can only be done when the cancer is not spread to other organs. Medicines are given after transplantation to prevent the rejection.
In Hepatectomy, a part of the liver or entire liver is removed. This surgery is usually done when the cancer is limited to the liver. Over time, the extracted part increases again.
Chemotherapy destroys cancer cells. In this, medicines are given through the veins. Chemotherapy can be effective in the treatment of liver cancer. Chemotherapy can increase the risk of your infection.
