Why does blood come in Gums ? How is gingivitis diagnosed and treated ?

Gingivitis is a gum infection that damages gums and can also destroy the jawbone. The bacteria in the plaque buildup causing the gums to become inflamed and it can easily bleed during tooth brushing.

The symptoms of gum disease are:-

  • Red and swollen gums
  • Bleeding while brushing 
  • Loose teeth 
  • Pus between gums and teeth 
  • Sores in mouth 
  • Persistent bad breath

The causes of gum disease are:-

  • Smoking 
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Hormonal changes 
  • Cancer 
  • Stress 
  • Poor nutrients 
  • Diabetes mellitus 
  • No dental care 
  • Poor saliva production

Complete cleaning of teeth -

All the components of plaque and tartar are removed. This process can be uncomfortable, especially when the patient's gum is more sensitive or the plaque and the tartar have been stored in a considerable amount.

 Antiseptic mouth wash -

It can be in the form of a spray or gel, which is usually used for one month. This helps in eliminating bacteria. Doctors may advise chlorhexidine or hexetidine. Various products of antiseptic mouth wash can be bought from any medical store.

Brushing teeth -

The dentist will see the patient brushing technique and if necessary then properly explain the method of brushing. Many dentists say that electric toothbrush can be a better option for brushing well. The point of note is that if fluoride content is low in tap water, then using fluoride toothpaste should be used. Fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth, which protects them from decomposition.
