A dose-response relationship exists between physical activity and all-cause mortality and the greatest benefits to the health are seen with those moving away from a sedentary lifestyle; the combined benefits of physical activity on both mental and physical health easily surpass the effectiveness of any drugs or other medical treatment.
Sections 5 and 6 explain the role of Sport and Exercise Medicine specialists in the education of healthcare professionals and researchers to improve patient care and services.
